Corrections Policy
Effective Date: 16 October 2026
Last Updated: 16 October 2026
GTV News Urdu is committed to accuracy and transparency. When we identify a material error, we aim to correct it promptly and explain significant changes clearly.
1. What We Correct
Corrections may be required for inaccurate names, dates, locations, quotations, statistics, captions, translations, descriptions, headlines, images, links or other factual statements. We also review complaints about missing context where the omission materially changes the meaning of a report.
2. Types of Changes
Minor Edit
Spelling, grammar, formatting or style changes that do not alter the factual meaning may be made without a correction note.
Clarification
A clarification may be added where the original wording was factually supportable but unclear, incomplete or reasonably open to misunderstanding.
Correction
A correction note is added when a factual error materially affected the accuracy or meaning of the report. The note should state what was wrong and what has been corrected.
Editor’s Note
An editor’s note may be used for substantial changes, an evolving dispute, a serious editorial issue or additional context that readers need in order to understand the article’s history.
Update
An update notice may be used when a developing story receives new confirmed information. An update is not necessarily a correction unless the earlier report contained an error.
3. Correction Process
- A correction request or possible error is referred to the responsible editorial team.
- The team reviews the published material, original sources, available evidence and relevant communications.
- Where appropriate, the reporter, editor and affected person or organization may be consulted.
- If a correction is required, the article is amended and an appropriate note is added.
- The publication and modification times remain available through the page and its structured data where technically supported.
Urgent errors involving public safety, identity, defamation risk, fabricated material or serious misinformation receive priority review.
4. Headlines, Images and Social Posts
If a material error appears in a headline, caption, featured image, video description or social-media post, we will correct the affected element where operationally possible. A corrected article does not automatically remove copies, screenshots or third-party shares already distributed outside our control.
5. Retractions and Removal
Complete removal of published journalism is exceptional. We may retract or remove material where publication was fundamentally unreliable, unlawful, dangerously misleading, published without proper authority, or creates a serious and disproportionate risk that cannot reasonably be addressed through correction or redaction.
We do not normally remove accurate archive material solely because it has become inconvenient or unfavourable. Requests are assessed in light of accuracy, legal obligations, public interest, privacy, freedom of expression and the integrity of the historical record.
6. How to Request a Correction
Email info@gtvnetwork.tv with the subject line Correction Request and include:
- The full URL of the article, video or page;
- The exact statement or material believed to be inaccurate;
- A clear explanation of the requested correction;
- Supporting documents, records or credible sources;
- Your name and a reliable method of contact;
- Your relationship to the matter, if relevant.
We may request additional information to verify the claim. Submission does not guarantee a correction, removal or response within a fixed period, but good-faith requests will be reviewed by the appropriate team.
7. Appeals
If you believe a correction request was not properly considered, you may reply to the decision or send a new email marked Editorial Review, explaining the unresolved issue and providing any additional evidence.
